Good news for the holidays!

December has been an eventful month for Boissevain Books.

Just yesterday, we released The 70th Anniversary Edition of Kersti and Saint Nicholas, Hilda van Stockum's classic holiday story about a mischievous and clever little girl and her adventures with St. Nicholas. This beautifully illustrated book will charm adults and children alike, and is now for sale at the Createspace store -- just in time for the holidays!

And last week, Little Old Bear, which we published in September, was covered in an article that appeared in The East Hampton Star! It's available now at Amazon.com and the CreateSpace store.

Little Old Bear, written and illustrated by Hilda van Stockum in 1962, is back in print! Boissevain Books has just released a softbound version of this touching story of an old Teddy bear that was "so old that he had lost his fur and his eyes and he was not the handsome little bear he had once been."

In this beautifully illustrated book, Hilda van Stockum, with warmth and humour, relays the many trials and adventures of this little old bear who eventually finds a new and loving home. Although written for children aged five and older, this is a book to be read aloud and shared with the whole family!

Boissevain Books has just released Hilda van Stockum's Penengro, the story of a young orphan boy who, after being adopted because of his resemblance to the parents' deceased child, runs away and finds acceptance and community among a group of gypsies. The story, set in mid-20th century Ireland, is filled with adventure and told with sensitivity and pride in its depiction of the Romani culture.

First published in 1972, Hilda van Stockum's tale of family, acceptance and tolerance, is still of great relevance today. Penengro was written for children aged eight and older. This soft-bound edition is now available for $9.95 at Amazon

The first Boissevain Books edition of an out-of-print Hilda van Stockum title is now available! Patsy and the Pup, one of the author's timeless children's books, has just been released and is available via Amazon.

From the Preface by Elisabeth Marlin (to whom the book was dedicated by the author in 1950):

A sweet puppy follows Patsy home one day, but Mother says she has to take it back to its owner. The mischievous pup is in no hurry to go home and drags Patsy into one hair-raising adventure after another.
